
JetBlue extends Port Au Prince flight suspension through April 2026
JetBlue has extended its suspension of flights to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, through April 2026 due to ongoing civil unrest. Safety concerns and FAA restrictions have halted operations from New York and South Florida until at least June 11, 2025
The ongoing civil unrest in Haiti recently led to a decision to hiatus JetBlue flights to Port-au-Prince through April and till June 11th 2025. JetBlue Airways came up with operations from New York and South Florida to Port-au-Prince, the routes initially suspended from November 2024 until April 30th. So far within a week later, the US Federal Aviation Administration imposed a flight ban on commercial & cargo carriers to Haiti due to worsening gang violence.
Although the FAA ban on flights into Haiti is set to expire on March 12th, the recent data cerium data scheduled future commercial air travel shows no activity from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Toussaint Louverture International Airport; Haiti-its far out as September 2025 through April 2026.

"Our top priority remains the safety and well-being of our customers and crew members. Due to the ongoing civil unrest in Haiti, we have decided to suspend all flights to and from the country through at least June 11, 2025. We will monitor the situation closely and update our plans as necessary."
Such reasons why the FAA imposed the ban on flights in the first place to gangs—entering the airport & firing upon three US flights. Even on One Spirit Airlines flight injured. The violent gang even tried to control all the major highways in & out of Port-au-Prince—leaving the capital a risky prospect for foreign travellers.

So far, airport authorities have spent weeks completing renovations on the runways at CYA—extending it from 4,265 feet to 5,905, thus making it capable of serving jetliners. However, there may still be some months before enough orders are received to resort to flying commercial jets to the airport safely.
